BARRINGTON, R.I. -- Barbara Jane Barnard, 79, of Barrington, R.I., formerly of Cheshire, Conn., passed away Friday, Nov. 14, 2008, at Steere House in Providence, R.I., after a brave and courageous battle with cancer. She was born in West Salem, the daughter of the late John and Jennie Barnard, and was a 1950 graduate of Bethesda School of Nursing in Cincinnati.

ASHLAND -- Raymond Walter Dolby, 95, of Ashland, died Thursday, Nov. 20, 2008, at his residence. He was born April 25, 1913, in Ashland County, the son of Alvin and Katherine (Picking) Dolby, and was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.

Hawks Honored for Fall Success

Hiland High School passed out their season ending awards for their fall athletes at their recent banquet. Picking up special awards for the volleyball team were Josie Schrock as the most improved, Alaina Miller picking up the Hawk award and Jill Martin was named Miss Volleyball.

Knights Honor Fall Athletes

A successful fall season came to a close at West Holmes as they honored their athletes at a recent banquet. Highlighting the evening was the girls cross country teams appearance at the regional meet and the district qualifying golf team. The girls cross country team finished up fifth in the Ohio Cardinal Conference, but finished in the fourth place at the Cambridge district. They edged Morgan by nine points for the last spot that advances to the regional.
