WOOSTER -- Bessie Marie (Ebersole) Bentz, 87, of West View Manor Nursing Home in Wooster, passed away Tuesday, April 14, 2009. Born Bessie Marie Ebersole on Aug. 23, 1921, to the late Ada (Wilson) and Arthur Ebersole near Beach City. She was married to Henry Bentz on April 2, 1940.

HOLMESVILLE -- Lisa Mai Bernhart, 53, of Holmesville, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday afternoon, April 14, 2009, at Aultman Hospital in Canton, after a sudden illness. Services will be Saturday at 11:30 a.m. at Alexander Funeral Home, Millersburg, with the Rev. Joanna Lance officiating. Burial will be in Gray Ridge Cemetery, Millersburg.

WOOSTER -- The College of Wooster will celebrate its commitment to undergraduate research when it plays host to the inaugural Senior Research Symposium on April 24. Classes will be canceled so students can share their projects with faculty, staff, parents, visitors and fellow students across campus.

WOOSTER -- Rita Mary Felton, 86, of Wooster, passed away Tuesday, April 14, 2009, at Wooster Community Hospital surrounded by her family. She was born Sept. 3, 1922, in Glenmont, the daughter of Frank C. and Julia A. (Guenther) Butts, and married Harold J. Felton. He died July 14, 1995.

WEST SALEM -- Franklin D. "Frank" Hoffman Sr., 72, of West Salem and formerly of Polk, died Wednesday, April 15, 2009. Born Nov. 12, 1936, in Bellaire, the son of James "Russell" and Opal E. (Garloch) Hoffman, and married Janet A. Savick on Aug. 20, 1972. She survives.

Roman Majerczak

MOUNT VERNON -- Roman Majerczak, 83, of Briar Wood Drive, Mount Vernon, formerly of Wooster and Alpine Lake in Terra Alta, W.Va., passed away Tuesday, April 14, 2009, at Knox Community Hospital in Mount Vernon. He was born March 11, 1926, in Cleveland, to the late Jacob and Rose (Glutz) Majerczak. Roman served in the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II and the Korean Conflict. He was wounded while serving in Iwo Jima and received the Purple Heart and the Silver Star.

Orrville Exchange Club Kent Smith, Orrville High School athletic director, returned to Exchange Club April 9 with spring coaches when members met for lunch at the Orrville YMCA. Sport schedules were given to each Exchange Club member.

ORRVILLE -- Police investigated two incidents of dog bites last week. The first occurred April 8 at 8:42 a.m. when a 39-year-old woman was bitten by a Chihuahua running at large in front of the Orrville Public Library. The woman did not immediately seek medical attention and the dog was quarantined. The second incident occurred on April 9 at 2:40 p.m. when a 17- year-old girl was bitten by a dog in the 700 block of McGill Street. The girl, who was bitten on the upper arm, was taken to Dunlap ...
