Swine Flu Is a Misleading Name for Newest Strain
It's all in the name. The current flu virus in the news is causing quite a bit of unnecessary financial turmoil for hog producers. Though it is being called the swine flu, it needs to be realized that flu viruses are named after the first animal they were found in, not necessarily what they are currently being found in.

Plummeting prices in the dairy industry are creating critical cash-flow and long-term survivability issues on Ohio's 3,328 dairy farms. Cost-cutting decisions must be made with full awareness of both short- and long-term production and economic consequences. Cling to Common Sense When Buying Equipment
A couple weeks ago, my car started making clanging sounds somewhere underneath and toward the middle, as well as somewhere near the right front tire. Every bump I drove over, and better than half the turns I took, resulted in the clanging -- an audible noise of parts rubbing against parts, in some abnormal way.
HOWARD -- Angelo and Betty (Chupella) Graziani, 537 Baldwin Heights Circle, Howard (formerly of Wooster) will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary on Saturday. They were married in 1959 at St. Hedwig's Catholic Church, Smock, Pa. They are the parents of Mark (Deb) of Land O Lakes, Fla., and Diane (Mike) Chirdon of Wooster. They have four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

RITTMAN -- Harold Sr. and Susan (Spier) Snell, 302 Ritter St., will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary on Saturday. They were married in 1959 by the Rev. Harold Springstead of Muskegoro, Mich. They are the parents of Harold (Joyce), Suzanne (Dennis) Pauly, both of Rittman, and Barbara (Steve) Cale of Orrville. They have nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
MILLERSBURG -- Avis L. Blum, 88, of Millersburg, entered into rest on Sunday morning, May 3, 2009, at Pomerene Hospital in Millersburg. It was her wishes for a private family interment, which will take place in Crown Hill Cemetery, Amherst, at the convenience of the family.
ASHLAND -- Scott E. Boreman, 71, of Ashland, died at his residence Sunday, May 3, 2009. He was born in Ashland County on Feb. 2, 1938, the son of Earl C. and Erma B. (Daugherty) Boreman and had been a resident of the Ashland area all of his life.
