Stephen Boreman

OVERTON -- Stephen Eugene Boreman, 44, of Burbank, passed away Tuesday, June 23, 2009, at Akron City Hospital. He was born Nov. 9, 1964, in Medina, the son of Norman and Shirley Taylor Boreman, and was a logger for Boreman Logging. He was a member of Overton Church of God.

Mary Jane Helman

WEST SALEM -- Mary Jane (Osborn) Helman, 67, of West Salem, died Tuesday, June 23, 2009, at Akron General Medical Center. Services will be Friday, June 26, at 11 a.m. at Matteson Funeral Home in West Salem, with Pastor Glenna Knapp officiating. Burial will be in West Salem Cemetery.

Holmes 4-H clubs make preparations for 2009 fair

MILLERSBURG -- 4-H clubs, FFA and FCCLA chapters in Holmes County are encouraged to nominate members to represent their club/chapter in the Holmes County Fair King/Queen Contest. Nominees must be 16 years of age as of Jan. 1. Nominees must return applications to the Extension Office by July 27. Applications are available at the OSU Extension Web site www.holmes.osu.edu.

4-H'ers chosen for leadership camps

MILLERSBURG -- Caleb Chanay and Lorraine Strouse have been selected to represent Holmes County at State 4-H Leadership Camp at 4-H Camp Ohio on July 13-17. The Ohio Farm Bureau Federation and Nationwide sponsor the program and provide full camp scholarships for up to two 4-H members from each of Ohio's 88 counties.

WOOSTER -- Ruby Elizabeth Miller, 73, of Wooster, passed away Wednesday, June 24, 2009, at her home. She was born Oct. 19, 1935, in Holmesville, the daughter of Russell Dean and Vera (Hamlin) Martin, and married Robert L. Miller on Feb. 10, 1963. He survives.
