Are you and your children prepared for a winter emergency? The Federal Emergency Management Agency recommends six basic types of supplies you should have in your home -- water, food, first aid supplies, emergency clothing and bedding, emergency tools and supplies and special need items.
You should have a minimum of three days supply of water. That comes out to one gallon of water per person, per day. While I usually recommend recycling whenever possible, refilling empty gallon jugs may lead to contamination since you can't sterilize old milk and juice jugs.
