Character Counts! Returns to Local Schools

Summary

The cooler temperatures and falling leaves brings the Character Counts! 4-H school program back to many of our local elementary schools in Wayne County. Each month, now through March, students will be learning about building good character, including trustworthiness, responsibility, respect, fairness, caring, citizenship and decision-making. This month the character counts teachers will be sharing character traits for trustworthiness. Students will be asked to think how trustworthy people behave, what actions they display and how they talk. They will explore honesty, loyalty, promise-keeping and integrity.

What would you pick as the most important trait for effective leadership? One study of 15,000 people revealed that "honesty" was at the top of the list. Not visionary, inspirational or even competent! The study, featured in the publication, "Credibility," noted, "Honest people have credibility and that is what gives leaders the trust and confidence of their people."
