WOOSTER -- Wayne County's sheriff plans to restructure his office by closing its "pay-to-stay" center and the fourth floor of the jail.

Sheriff Thomas G. Maurer, accompanied by Capt. Charlie Hardman and accountant Larry Strausbaugh, made the proposal before all three county commissioners and the county administrator. It came three days after the commissioners issued a countywide 10 percent cut from the general fund for the 2009 budget.
