This statement is false, but was truly believed by several mothers participating in a Wayne County nutrition education program. Fortunately, Darcy Becker, FNP Program Assistant, was able to help them understand that milk and dairy products are actually a safe, healthy food choice. After some discussion, we determined that the root cause of concern was the belief that there are antibiotics in dairy products on the shelf in the grocery store.
