I have to chuckle each time I hear it. Usually it's when I'm struggling to open their dog's mouth for an oral exam. The pet owner will say "She won't bite." My response, even if I don't say it aloud: "They ALL bite" and a forced oral exam is a great way to provoke it.
A two-year study of dog bite truths was recently unveiled that analyzed what dogs bite and why. I have to agree with the results ... Chihuahuas are most likely to bite a veterinarian. They also discovered that Lhasa apsos deliver one of the most severe bites and about 40 percent of all bites were from mixed breed dogs. The study also concluded, much like my own amateur assessment, that all dogs will bite and that circumstances under which the bite occurred are more indicative then the breed.See the full content of this document
