Send Help! Headed South, Rocking the Road with a Blast From the Past

Summary


Last week I chased the remains of summer down to the northwestern corner of Georgia. The trip south wasn't optional -- I needed to be in the town of Rome by Monday morning -- but my mode of travel to the conference was a matter of calculation and consideration.

Option A (the one most folks would have taken without a second thought) would have been to drive to Cleveland and catch a flight to Atlanta. By my way of thinking, however, flying would never be as simple as that. First, I'd need to get to the airport, park the car, check my luggage, remove my shoes, belt, and I.D. necklace, dispose of all my liquids, lotions and other terrorist accessories, then wait around for a couple more hours to board a two-hour-long flight.
