Finally, with all the holiday hullabaloo over and done with for another year, it's time to relax and reflect upon the wonderful season that was. Kristin and I are lucky to have, on both sides of the family, lots of great folks who love to have a good time, and getting together has always been the high point of it all for me. The gift-giving tradition takes the top spot on the list of Christmas "likes" for many of those around me, however, and I have lobbied for years to tone down the crazed consumerism of the season. This year -- with a little help from the ruptured economy -- I was finally able to realize my dream of opening just a single, thoughtful gift from my wonderful, yet historically over-gifting wife!

I'm not really a big "stuff" guy, and by this point in my life I've got pretty much everything I need by way of hand tools, bicycle parts, hunting accessories and kitchen gadgets. Yet somehow, this woman, this rare gem of a mate, found a way to dazzle me in a way I didn't even imagine possible! Her gift? A nose hair trimmer!
