COLUMBUS -- Here's an idea that should be of interest to all you government watchdogs: Why not create an all-encompassing, state-run Web site that provides easy online access to information about state contracts, earmarks and program performance?
That's the gist of legislation offered by Rep. Tom Brinkman Jr., a Republican from Cincinnati, who provide initial testimony to a House committee last week. House Bill 420, which already has 30- plus co-sponsors, would require the Office of Budget and Management to create the "single, searchable Web site, accessible to the public at no cost," according to an analysis by the state's Legislative Service Commission.See the full content of this document
